Grade 5 fencer Liam Ibarra shines in local and int'l competitions

Promising Ateneo de Manila Grade School (AGS) student athlete Liam Ibarra (5-Ifugao) delivered standout performances in two recent fencing tournaments, earning medals and top rankings across multiple age groups.
At the Young Musketeers 1st Series 2025 tournament held in Libis, Quezon City, Liam secured a bronze in the U13 Men’s Foil on March 8 and then clinched gold in the U11 Men’s Foil category on March 9- an impressive feat that highlights his determination and skill.
Continuing his strong showing on the international stage, Ibarra competed in the 2025 Hefeng Cup National Children’s Junior Championship (First Leg) in New Taipei City, Taiwan. Facing a deep field of competitors, he placed 27th out of 85 in the U13 Men’s Foil on March 29 and finished 9th out of 83 in the U11 Men’s Foil event on March 30. He was the only Filipino to reach the top 10 out of 83 fencers in the U11 age group.
These accomplishments mark a promising start to the year for Liam, who continues to make his mark in the youth fencing circuit.
