Ateneo hauls 1 gold, 3 bronzes in UAAP Season 87 girls' fencing

Composed of talented student-athletes from both the Ateneo de Manila Junior High School (AJHS) and Senior High School (ASHS), the Ateneo Girls’ Fencing Team achieved a commendable performance, collecting one gold and three bronze medals during the UAAP Season 87 Fencing Tournament held from 22-25 April 2025 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.
The sole gold medal was won by Hannah Belarmino (11-Perez) in the girls’ épée individual event, which took place on Day 2 of the competition, April 23rd.
The three bronzes tallied were all for team events, all of which featured the gifted Belarmino as well. Details:
DAY 3, April 24
Hannah Belarmino, Rana Rafael (11-Escribano), Elouise Rodriguez (11-Escribano), and Louis Villegas (7-Bobola): bronze for foil team
Day 4, April 25
Hannah Belarmino, Rana Rafael, Philippa Sunga (7-Aranha), and Julia Pablo (7-Andlauer): bronze for sabre team
Hannah Belarmino, Rana Rafael, Elouise Rodriguez, and Louis Villegas: bronze for épée team

The Blue Eagles were coached for the competition by Edward Daliva and Bekah Reyno for sabre, Veena Nuestro for épée, and Rupert Endriano for foil. The Program Head of Ateneo Fencing is Ryan Janeo.
The UAAP Season 87 Fencing Tournament was held from 22-25 April 2025 at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila. The other participating schools in the girls’ division were De La Salle Santiago Zobel, University of Santo Tomas High School, University of the East High School, and University of the Philippines Integrated School.
