Blue Eagles place 3rd overall in UAAP Season 87 boys' fencing

Composed of student-athletes from both the Ateneo de Manila Junior High School and Senior High School, the Ateneo Boys' Fencing Team concluded its UAAP Season 87 campaign in third place after securing two silver and four bronze medals across six events in the boys' division.
The medals won by the Blue Eagles are as follows:
Day 1, April 22
Samuel Gatmaytan (11-Moscoso): silver, épée individual
Adam Aceron (12-Acquaviva): bronze, sabre individual
Day 2, April 23
Derek Perez (11-Hoyos): bronze, foil individual
Day 3, April 24
Samuel Gatmaytan, Zebastian Largo (12-Oldcorne), Sean Ang (10-Page), and Noah Ibrahim (11-Borja): bronze for épée team
Adam Aceron, Mairon Moulic (11-Owen), Matthew General (11-Owen), and Joaquin Ronsayro (11-Garnet): silver for sabre team
Day 4, April 25
Derek Perez, Albert Pascua (11-Hoyos), Adam Aceron, Mairon Moulic: bronze for foil team

The Blue Eagles were coached for the competition by Edward Daliva and Bekah Reyno for sabre, Veena Nuestro for épée, and Rupert Endriano for foil. The Program Head of Ateneo Fencing is Ryan Janeo.
The UAAP Season 87 Fencing Tournament took place from 22-25 April 2025 at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila. The other participating schools in the boys’ division included De La Salle Santiago Zobel, University of Santo Tomas High School, University of the East High School, and University of the Philippines Integrated School.
