Multi-talented Ateneo de Manila Junior High School (AJHS) athlete Tyler Templo (7-Baldinucci) was named UAAP Season 87 3x3 Basketball Tournament Rookie of the Year for the HS Girls' division on 4 May 2025. She is the very first AJHS female recipient of the coveted UAAP title for newcomers. Tyler says she was “very surprised” and “very thankful” for the honor considering how challenging the season was both on and off the court. "This award is a good way to end the season,” she says.
Tyler is also a member of the first ever Ateneo High School Girls' Futsal/Football Team (AHSGFT), which was crowned High School Open Division Champion of the RIFA Phase 2 9-A-Side Football Tournament last March.
Beyond her achievements in basketball and football in AJHS, the gifted athlete shares that before joining Ateneo, she was also accepted into the volleyball and track & field varsity teams during her elementary years at St. Paul College Pasig. "My family and I have been involved in sports since I was about 8 years old," she revealed.
Another fun fact: Tyler was an avid Rubik’s Cuber during the pandemic. All these interests, she explains, helped her “to relax during stressful moments.”
She hopes that the Ateneo Girls’ Basketball Team will get more support from the Ateneo community. “I'd like to thank everyone po who has shown support for the team throughout the year. This wouldn't be possible without my teammates and coaches who have supported and encouraged me to be the best version of myself,” she concludes.
