Blue Eagles are ISTA Division 2 Tennis Champions

Composed of Ateneo de Manila Junior High School (AJHS) and Senior High School (ASHS) players, the Ateneo de Manila Lawn Tennis varsity emerged as Division 2 Champion of the Inter-School Tennis Association (ISTA) Tournament’s senior high school boys’ category. Rostered in the champion team are Vince Garcia (9-Grimaltos), Manu Kallos (10-Saito), Aaron Mapua (11-Garnet), Caleb Puentespina (9-Lalemant), Tomic Roque (10-Page), and Anton Santillan (9-Garnier).   

Among the schools the Blue Eagles bested for the title were International School Manila (ISM), De La Salle Zobel (DLSZ), Xavier School (XS), Colegio San Agustin (CSA), Multiple Intelligence International School (MIIS), Everest International Academy (EIA), and Southridge, whom they defeated in the finals.

Meanwhile, another team composed of AJHS and ASHS players Marcus Dimalaluan (11-Moscoso), Vince Garcia, Aaron Mapua, JC Pabillore (12-Bobola), Caleb Puentespina, Jaime Reyes (11-Garnet), and Pepe Santillan (12-Carvalho) ended its run as Division 1 finalist of the ISTA tournament’s SHS boys’ category.

Among the schools which participated in the division 1 competition were ISM, DLSZ, XS, Southridge, CSA, EIA, and De La Salle Lipa (DLSL), whom the Ateneans lost to in the finals. 

Because of the large number of participating schools, the ISTA tournament ran for four months from 9 November 2024 to 8 March 2025. The venues used were the tennis courts of International School Manila and Colegio San Agustin in Makati.
