AGS cager Rossher Samson helps PH place 2nd in Asian Youth 12U Basketball tourney

Representing the Philippines, Team Pilipinas-12U Cityhoops emerged as 1st runner-up/silver medalist of the Asian Youth Basketball Championship (AYBC) held in Chungju, South Korea from 10-12 January 2025. Four members of the team are Ateneans: Karl Gandionco (7-Borgia), Pierce Ibuyan (7-Baldinucci), and Manolo Pasion (7-Briant) from Ateneo de Manila Junior High School/AJHS; and Rossher Samson (6 De Brito), the sole Atenean from Ateneo de Manila Grade School/AGS.
The team excelled with a 5-0 record in the elimination round, beating rivals Angkeng Taiwan, YKK Sports South Korea, Samsung Gangnam South Korea, TOP Korea, and Lixing Chinese Taipei. In the semifinals, Team PH was again victorious over undefeated Kago Japan and advanced to the finals. In the championship game against South Korea's top-ranked U12 team SK Knights, Team Philippines finished in second place after a thrilling overtime.
