PFA ranks Aidan Taguinod #1 in Men's U12 Saber Minime category

Ateneo de Manila Grade School student athlete Aidan Taguinod (6-Pignatelli) was recently recognized by the Philippine Fencing Association (PFA) as the country's #1 men's U12 saber fencer for 2024 in the minime category. Aidan secured the top ranking in the Philippines after three qualifying legs of the 2024 PFA Minime Rankings, where he is also #5 in the men's U14 saber minime category.

The PFA honored the Top 4 fencers in the Minime, Cadet, Junior, Senior, and Veterans categories based on their 2024 PFA rankings at an event held in Gateway 2 Mall in Quezon City on 8-9 February 2025.
Prior to the award ceremony, Aidan won three golds and three bronzes from national and international fencing competitions held from November to December 2024:

In the second leg of the Oblation Cup, Aidan bagged two bronze medals in the U11 and U13 men's sabre event.

In the PFA Minime Ranking 3rd Leg, Aidan secured the bronze medal in the U12 men's sabre event. In total, including the three legs of the PFA Minime Rankings starting in May 2024, Aidan bagged two silver medals and one bronze medal for the U12 men's saber event, emerging as the top-ranked saber fencer in the country for his age group.

In the Hampton Court Winter Fencing Cup 2024, Aidan performed incredibly well, earning three gold medals in U12 Individual Men's Sabre, U12 Team Men's Sabre, and U17 Men's Individual Sabre. Aidan showed exceptional skill in the U12 Individual Men's Sabre event, earning him a well-deserved gold. Aidan and Ateneo teammates Trent Ignacio (6-Brebeuf) and Eliam Mojica (7-Aranha) also won gold in the U12 Team Men's Sabre, showcasing amazing teamwork. To top it off, Aidan excelled in the U17 Men's Sabre category, where he took home another gold medal.
