Belarmino ranks 6th in PFA’s Women's Foil Senior Open category; is the only Atenean among Top 8
07 Feb 2025
Per the Philippine Fencing Association (PFA) announcement naming those who have officially been chosen to be part of the National Training Pool/ Developmental Team for 2025, Hannah Belarmino (11-Perez) emerged as the only ASHS fencer among the Top 8 of the Women's Foil Senior Open category, where she ranks 6th. The Senior Open category (for 13-year-olds and up) is the PFA’s most difficult/competitive category; per PFA guidelines, only its Top 4 athletes are made members of the National Team. Following the Senior Open category are the Junior (13–20) and Cadet (13-17) categories, where Hannah is ranked #2 in both.

The announcement was published on 15 January 2025 by the PFA, which is duly recognized by the Philippine Olympic Committee as the governing body for Philippine Fencing.
Contributing to Hannah’s impressive ranking in the Senior Open category was her triumphant performance in the Southeast Asian Fencing Federation (SEAFF) Championships held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 6-10 December 2024, where she and other members of the Philippine National Women’s Foil Team won gold in the Senior Open category of the women’s foil team event. In the same tournament, Hannah also placed 6th in the women’s individual foil.

The SEAFF Championships 2024 were held at the Tan Sri Hamzah Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, attracting participants from Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore, and host Malaysia.
