Three Ateneans help PH Samurais place 3rd in PONY Int'l Baseball tourney

Representing the Philippines, the Pilipinas Samurai team emerged as Bronco division 2nd runner-up of the 2024 PONY International Baseball & Softball Asia Pacific World Qualifying Championships held in Carmona City, Cavite. Three members of the team were Ateneo varsity baseball players: Ateneo de Manila Grade School's Aiden Lazaro (6-Miki), and Ateneo de Manila Junior High School's Joshua Gonzalez (7-Baena) and Win Ignacio (7-Balmain).
A qualifier for the World Series, the tournament saw the Philippines competing against powerhouse teams from China, Indonesia, Japan, Taiwan, and Vietnam. The event was held from 2-8 June 2024 at the CARSIGMA Samurai Baseball Complex in Carmona City, Cavite.
