Grade 6 fencer Aidan Taguinod hauls 4 golds, 4 silvers, and 3 bronzes in 7 tournaments

From 19 May to 25 August 2024, Ateneo de Manila Grade School (AGS) student athlete Aidan Taguinod (6-Pignatelli) won four golds, four silvers, and three bronzes in seven national and international sabre fencing competitions!

1) 1st Leg of the Philippine Fencing Association Minime Fencing Championships held on 19 May 2024 at Gateway 2 Mall in Quezon City: Silver, U11 Men’s Sabre
2) Republic Fencing's The Young Musketeers Series 2024 held on 9 June 2024 in Quezon City: Bronze, U11 Boy’s Sabre; Bronze, U13 Boys' Sabre
3) Excalibur Sabre Invitational Competition held on 16 June 2024 in Makati City: Gold, U12 Boy’s Sabre Individual; Silver, U12 Boys' Sabre Team; Top 5, U14 Boys' Sabre
4) Oblation Fencing Cup 2024 held on 6 July 2024 in Quezon City: Bronze, U12 Boys' Sabre
5) St Ignatius Cup 2024 held on 24-25 August 2024 in the FLC Building of Ateneo Senior High School campus: Gold, U12 Men’s Sabre; Silver, U14 Men’s Sabre
International Competitions
6) Southeast Asia and the Pacific International Fencing Competition held on 29-30 July 2024 at Ayala Malls Manila Bay in Parañaque City: Silver, U12 Men’s Sabre; Top 6, U14 Men’s Sabre

Aidan was recruited from the fencing COCA (co-curricular activity) when he was in Grade 5 in School Year 2023-2024. Though Ateneo Grade School does not have a fencing varsity team, he has been training with the Ateneo Fencing Team (AFeT) since December 2023 under Ateneo head sabre coach Edward Daliva.
