Chess wiz Arjay Co is back-to-back champ of Battle of Future Grandmasters

Ateneo de Manila Junior High School chess wizard Arjay Co (8-Colombiere) successfully defended his title in the 12U category of Pasig City’s “Battle of Future Grandmasters 2” tournament, emerging as the series’ first ever back-to-back champion!
Held on 13 July 2024 at Estancia Mall in Pasig City, the competition saw Arjay scoring six wins, one draw and zero losses. He bested 56 other participants in a battle of seven rounds under a time control of 15 minutes plus five seconds increment.
Arjay is currently a member of the AJHS Chess Varsity under coaches Ildefonso Datu, Luffe Magdalaga and International Master (IM) Jem Garcia.
