Grade 7 figure skater Uno Sta Maria wins 2 golds for PH in Taiwan

Representing the Philippines, figure skater Jomar “Uno” Sta Maria Jr. of 7-Arrowsmith won two golds, two silvers, and one bronze in Skate Asia 2024, which was held in Taipei, Taiwan from 3-11 August 2024. Competing in the Delta/level 4 division for 11- to 12-year-olds, Uno won two golds for the Technical and Solo Compulsory categories, while the silvers were for the Light Entertainment Spotlight and Stroking (a group event). His bronze was for the Jump & Spin category for pairs.

Held in the Aurora Ice Rink in Taipei, Skate Asia 2024 saw more than 600 skaters from across Asia, the Middle East, USA, and other countries showcasing their figure skating skills in 25 categories for individuals, pairs, and teams.
Begun in Hong Kong in 1999, Skate Asia is now one of the world’s largest team recreation skating competitions. It has since been held in China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, and Thailand.
The 2024 competition marks the second consecutive year that Uno has won multiple medals in Skate Asia. He joined the competition for the first time in 2023 (when it was held in Hong Kong), collecting three golds and one bronze.
