AJHS batters help ILLAM qualify for Little League nat’l finals

The International Little League Association of Manila (ILLAM) All-Stars Juniors recently placed 2nd in the Little League Baseball Philippines Regional Tournament held in Ilagan, Isabela from February 5 to 12, 2023. ILLAM bested the teams from NCR and South Luzon (Antipolo, Pasig and Tanauan) in the elimination rounds to reach the finals, but lost to the mighty Tanauan team in the closely-contested match.
Eight members of the team are Ateneo de Manila Junior High School students, namely, Sancho Afuang (La Storta/7-Claver), Raffy Blaza (Cardoner/8-Azevedo), Miggy Covarrubias (Cardoner/7-Alvares), Migz Cruzat (La Storta/7-Collins), Ethan Galvez (Montserrat/8-Ishida), Mio Ilagan (Cardoner/8-Aranha), Tommy Oblea (Montserrat/7-Goto), and Gino Templo (La Storta/7-Colombiere).
By finishing in the top 2 of the regional tournament, ILLAM has qualified for the Little League National finals in early April, to be held once again in Ilagan, Isabela.
