Brix Magugat wins Ateneo’s sole silver in UAAP 85 boys’ chess championship

Ateneo de Manila Senior High School’s Brix Magugat (11-Torres) and Raiz Roxas (12-Pro) won silver and bronze medals, respectively, at the UAAP Season 85 Boys’ Chess Championships, which were held from November 12 to December 17, 2022, at the FEU Tech Gym in Morayta, Manila. Brix’s silver was for Board 5 while Raiz’s bronze was for Board 2. Their teammate from Ateneo de Manila Junior High School, Tiel Blanca (Pamplona/10-Whitbread), also bagged a bronze medal for Board 3.
The Blue Eagles placed 4th overall in the junior boys’ category, behind champion Far Eastern University-Diliman, 1st runner-up Adamson University, and 2nd runner-up University of Santo Tomas.
