Tiel Blanca bags bronze in UAAP 85 junior chess tourney

Arena FIDE Master Tiel Blanca (Pamplona/10-Whitbread) was the sole Blue Eagle from Ateneo de Manila Junior High School to win a medal at the UAAP Season 85 Junior Boys’ Chess Championships, which were held from November 12 to December 17, 2022, at the FEU Tech Gym in Morayta, Manila. Blanca was the bronze medalist for Board 3. His teammates from ASHS, Brix Magugat (11-Torres) and Raiz Roxas (12-Pro), won silver for Board 5 and bronze for Board 2, respectively.
The Blue Eagles placed 4th overall in the junior boys’ category, behind champion Far Eastern University-Diliman, 1st runner-up Adamson University, and 2nd runner-up University of Santo Tomas.
