AJHS chess wizard Tiel Blanca is an Arena FIDE Master title-holder

Representing the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila Junior High School student Tiel Blanca (Pamplona/9-Sitjar in School Year 2021-2022) emerged as the U-15 champion of the Little Angels High School (LAHS) Gwalior International Online Open Chess Tournament. He bested more than 130 players in his category at the competition, which was held on the lichess.org platform on June 15, 2022.
Tiel also recently earned the Arena FIDE Master (AFM) title as a result of his current rating of 1400. (FIDE is the French acronym "Federation Internationale des Echecs,” whose English translation is “International Chess Federation.”) For a chess player to qualify for the AFM title, he/she must maintain his/her rating at 1400 or higher for 50 Rapid time control games, 100 Blitz games, and 150 Bullet games.
