Body

The Ateneo Center for Asian Studies (ACAS) envisions to become a leading center of Asian Studies in the Philippines and the Global South as it pursues the following goals:

  • To advance interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary scholarship and exchange on Asian realities and issues from a Global South perspective.

  • To serve as a convenor for knowledge mobilization globally through activities that encompass academic and cultural exchange, and popular engagement.

  • To enhance the geographic expertise of Philippine scholars and practitioners.

At its home base under the Office of the Dean of the Dr Rosita G Leong School of Social Sciences, ACAS carries out its mandate through a biennial international conference, publications, sponsorship of research projects, hosting of senior researchers, courses on language and culture, and other activities that foster interest in Asian Studies. Moreover, ACAS serves as the permanent secretariat of the Asian Studies Association of the Philippines (ASIA-PHIL).
