Ateneo and the UN Sustainable Development Goals
Ateneo has pledged to support SDG 1 by providing scholarships and support services to low-income students, including those who are first-generation students. Moreover, Ateneo is devoted to helping local start-ups through initiatives like the Ateneo Center of Social Entrepreneurship (ACSEnt) and Ateneo Tulong Sulong. Additionally, the University has contributed to promoting food and shelter security through the efforts of ACED and Gawad Kalinga, which further support SDG 1.
DLSU, ADMU Ink Partnership for Social Entrepreneurship
November 16, 2023 – Institutional News
In a landmark collaboration, De La Salle University (DLSU) and Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on September 5, 2023, to jointly advance social entrepreneurship and sustainable development over the next three years. The ceremonial signing took place at the DLSU campus in Manila.
Spearheaded by DLSU’s Lasallian Social Enterprise for Economic Development (LSEED) Center and ADMU’s Ateneo Center for Social Entrepreneurship (ACSEnt), the partnership aims to promote social entrepreneurship in higher education, engage stakeholders, and share best practices.
Both centers are recognized leaders in social enterprise education and innovation. LSEED has supported over 70 social enterprises and chairs the National Association of Social Enterprise Educators and Administrators. ACSEnt, the country’s first university social entrepreneurship center, co-chairs the Institute for Social Entrepreneurship in Asia.
The two universities are also active members of the PRESENT Coalition, advocating for the Poverty Reduction through Social Entrepreneurship Bill.

Empowering Regional Educators: Ateneo and the United Board Faculty Scholarship Program
Ateneo de Manila University continues its commitment to inclusive and accessible education through strategic scholarship schemes that support students from low or lower-middle-income countries. One significant initiative is the United Board Faculty Scholarship Program (UBCHEA), which enables promising young faculty members from across Asia to pursue advanced degrees in the region. The program provides up to four years of financial support for doctoral studies and two years for master’s programs, with scholars studying in English-taught programs outside their home country.
An inspiring example is Hanh Nguyen of An Giang University in Vietnam, who completed his MA in English Language and Literature Teaching at Ateneo under the UBCHEA program. He credits Ateneo for transforming his leadership and teaching abilities, which have helped him build innovative solutions—such as an English Speaking Zone—to enhance language instruction in his home institution.
Beyond international partnerships, Ateneo also offers a wide range of graduate scholarships and financial aid for local and international students, reflecting its broader mission of forming leaders for the common good.

Food Stubs Program Returns this August to Support Ateneo Scholars
August 9, 2024 – Loyola Heights, Quezon City
The Food Stubs Program resumes this August to assist financially constrained scholars in accessing nutritious meals during critical academic periods.
Administered by the ADMU Scholars HelpDesk, the Food Stubs Program is a regular, semestral initiative that provides food assistance to Ateneo scholars. For this cycle, 500 food stubs will be made available, with online sign-ups open from August 12 to 13, held twice daily at 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM. The registration link and results will be posted in the ADMU Scholars Facebook Group, where students can also receive timely updates.
Stub recipients can claim their food support from the AASA Office, located on the 2nd Floor of the Pollock Center.
This recurring activity has consistently drawn positive feedback from students for its impact on academic focus and well-being. It reflects Ateneo’s dedication to addressing food insecurity and fostering an environment where all students—especially those from vulnerable backgrounds—can thrive.
