“Climate Voices on the Ground: Perspectives from Different Sectors,” A Laudato Si' Week Discussion for 2024
In celebration of Laudato Si’ Week, the My Climate Risk – Ateneo de Manila University (MCR-Ateneo) Regional Hub, through the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability, will hold an event titled “Climate Voices on the Ground: Perspectives from Different Sectors, A Laudato Si’ Week Discussion.” This webinar will be held on 22 May 2024, exactly one month after Earth Day.
The session will be an interdisciplinary discussion, and feature three panel members: Dr Liza L Lim, Director of the Institute of Social Order; Ms Violeta Imperial, Social Responsibility Specialist at Nature Awareness and Conservation Club, Inc; and Ms Jessica Dator-Bercilla, Science Resilience Fellow of the National Resilience Council.
This is the second Laudato Si’ Week discussion hosted by the Hub, and is aligned with the Laudato Si’ encyclical on Care for Our Common Home. Last year, the Hub hosted a Brown Bag Session focused on the first two Laudato Si’ goals. This year’s session will reflect on the bookends of the Laudato Si’ goals in particular: Goal 1, Response to the Cry of the Earth, and Goal 7, Community Resilience and Empowerment. With the substrate of climate as a guiding point, the discussion seeks to add to the chorus of responses to the Cry of the Earth. In protecting our common home, the Hub also seeks equitable ways forward, with a lens of justice and solidarity with our publics.
The online discussion will be on Wednesday, 22 May, 3:00-5:00PM (GMT+8).
Interested parties may register at linktr.ee/MCR_ADMU. All sessions will be livestreamed on the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability’s Facebook page, but registered participants will have access to live interpretations by Filipino Sign Language interpreters on Zoom.
