DOST-SEI awards YES medal to 30 Ateneans in Basic Education

The Department of Science and Technology Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) has awarded its annual Youth Excellence in Science (YES) medals to 30 Ateneo de Manila students in Basic Education who won gold, silver, and bronze medals in international STEM competitions in 2023. As stated by DOST-SEI Director Dr Jayeel S Cornelio in his letter to the Ateneo dated 5 November 2024, “This medal of distinction signifies the DOST’s high regard for the pursuit of excellence by young Filipinos in international STEM competitions.”

Dr Cornelio added, “We thank you for your utmost support in sending our students to international STEM competitions and we would like to congratulate all our young science and math geniuses for continuously bannering the Filipino STEM excellence on the world stage.” 

The YES awardees who successfully represented Ateneo de Manila in STEM competitions in 2023 are as follows, with their sections from SY 2023-2024 following their names in parentheses.
