Office of the Gesù Church Rector
The Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) Philippines, the official papal charity for persecuted Christians worldwide, invites the University community in the commemoration of the RED WEDNESDAY 2022: BLESSED ARE THE PERSECUTED on November 23, 2022.
ACN responds to the call to promote ecclesial and spiritual communion between those who suffer for their Faith and those who possess a compassionate and generous heart.
As we are marking our remembrance for the suffering Church around the world, this year’s verse is drawn from the Gospel of St. Luke 21:19 – By your perseverance you will secure your lives.
With the approval of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), the Wednesday after the Solemnity of Christ the King will be a day of prayer for persecuted Christians. The Campus Ministry Offices of the various units are requested to celebrate the Holy Eucharist following the prescribed liturgy using the Votive Mass for Persecuted Christians.
As a sign of our unity with the ACN mission, the façade of the Arete will be lighted RED on the eve of November 23, 2022.
Thank you and may we continue to ask for the Grace of compassion for all those who suffer for their Faith.
In the Lord,
(Sgd)
Fr. Norberto Ma. L. Bautista, SJ
