Six AJHS mathletes grab gold for PH in PhIMO Final Round 2024

Representing the Philippines, eight Ateneo de Manila Junior High School (AJHS) students triumphed at the Philippine International Mathematical Olympiad (PhIMO) Final Round 2024, earning an impressive haul of six gold and two silver medals. The competition was held both online and onsite at the EVM Convention Center in Quezon City on 21 September 2024.
Gold medals were secured by Gerrico Argonza (9-Mangin), Koko Dela Cruz (7-Alonso), Carl Evangelista (7-Alvares), Paco Javier (8-Claver), Joaquin Jobog (10-Rubio), and Xavvi Lopez (7-Arrowsmith). Meanwhile, Thomas Camacho (7-Balmain) and Matty Trinidad (7-Azevedo) proudly secured silver medals.


Among the AJHS awardees, Argonza and Jobog were onsite participants at the competition venue.
The PhIMO Final Round 2024 attracted participants from Australia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. The PhIMO is the newest and most sophisticated international mathematics competition among kindergarten to grade 12 students. It is designed to honor the world’s best learners in mathematical problem-solving through friendly competition, and to foster cultural exchange among its participating countries. Among the AJHS awardees, Argonza and Jobog were onsite participants at the competition venue.
