DOST-NRCP elects Prof De Las Peñas as president

Dr Ma. Louise Antonette N. De Las Peñas, Professor of Mathematics, School of Science and Engineering, was elected as the President of the Department of Science and Technology -National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP) for 2025-2026.
DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum, Jr swore in the NRCP Governing Board Officers last March 27, 2025 at the NRCP Auditorium in the DOST complex in Taguig.
The NRCP is an attached agency to the DOST with mission to advocate frontier science and humanities research and evidence-informed policies with the highest ethical standards committed to impact national and global sustainable development. It has a total of about 7,000 associate and regular member researchers, spread across 13 divisions: Division I, Governmental, Educational and International Policies; Division II, Mathematical Sciences; Division III, Medical Sciences; Division IV, Pharmaceutical Sciences; Division V, Biological Sciences; Division VI, Agriculture and Forestry; Division VII, Engineering and Industrial Research; Division VIII, Social Sciences; Division IX, Physics; Division X, Chemical Sciences; Division XI, Humanities, Division XII, Earth and Space Sciences; and Division XIII, Veterinary Medicine.
Prof De Las Peñas is the first NRCP President coming from the Division of Mathematical Sciences and the first NRCP President from the Ateneo de Manila University.
The rest of the NRCP governing board officers are Vice President Ramon Christian P. Eusebio (Engineering and Industrial Research), Corporate Secretary Maria Ela L. Atienza (Social Sciences), Treasurer Dixon T. Gevaña (Agriculture and Forestry), Asst. Corporate Secretary Jose Ma. M. Angeles (Medical Sciences) and Asst. Treasurer Betchaida D. Payot (Earth and Space Sciences).
