Joining the team on the winner’s podium were UP Diliman and Ateneo de Davao University, who won 1st and 2nd runner-up, respectively. Ateneo de Zamboanga also made the national final.
The winning team was composed of students Monica Sugay (4 BS MGT-H), Julia Chong (4 BS LM), Bea Cuizon (4 AB MEC), and Angela Yu (4 BS ME). Ms. Sugay was also named Best Presenter of the finals.
Coached by Ateneo alumni James Soriano (BS MGT-H 2012), Timi Fandino (BS MGT 2019) and Gabe Sin (BS ME 2018 & BS MA 2019), the team will now seek to defend Ateneo’s title as the reigning champion of the annual HSBC-HKU Asia Pacific Case Competition, which will be held from 26 to 29 May in Hong Kong.
The HSBC Philippines Case Competition, which is the national leg, was held on campus last 6 April 2024 and was comprised of an elimination round and the final round. The winning team from each of the 4 divisions in the elimination round made it to the final round. 12 universities from all over the Philippines participated in the competition.
Now in its 17th year, the HSBC/HKU Asia Pacific Business Case Competition is an annual event with participants from over 180 universities around the world. It enhances the traditional strengths of the case method of teaching by moving the business case from the classroom into a global competition format. In the competition, students from across the globe are judged by senior executives who make decisions on a daily basis.
