Leadership & Strategy
John Gokongwei School of Management
The Department of Leadership and Strategy offers courses in three areas: Strategy, Enterprise Development, and Leadership. These courses help the students understand the Philippine economic and business environment, determine the strategic directions firms should take, and assume the appropriate leadership roles to move their organization forward. The Department is also responsible for the following minor programs: Minor in Strategic Human Resources Management, Minor in International Business, and Minor in Management. The department seeks to mold Ateneo management students to become principle-centered corporate leaders and entrepreneurs who nurture a people-oriented culture and who take on a strategic global perspective rooted in the ASEAN and Philippine context.
From the Department Chair
On behalf of all the esteemed faculty members of the department, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Leadership and Strategy (LAS).
LAS handles courses dealing mostly with the soft skills, but may really be the harder skills in management: (1) External and Internal Environment Analysis; (2) Strategic Management and Global Business Strategy; (3) Strategic Human Resource Management; (4) Entrepreneurship and Business Development and Implementation; (5) Leadership and Business Ethics; (6) Sustainability Management, Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Enterprise.
The department handles the Minors and Specializations in Strategic Human Resource Management, Sustainability, International Business, and Management. We also house JGSOM’s graduate programs - MS Sustainability Management, MS Management, and Ph.D. Leadership Studies, Major in Business Leadership.
Given the wide range of courses that department handles, our faculty members expectedly come from various backgrounds and fields of practice – human resource management, business/corporate strategy, sustainability management, entrepreneurship, consultancy, social development, and business/corporate leadership.
Your Leadership and Strategy faculty-team looks forward to having you join us in our classes and programs. We are all honored to be part of your journey.
John Luis Lagdameo
Department Chair
