SUBJECT
Advisory on Facebook's new policy regarding Live videos
Facebook has announced changes regarding the use of Facebook pages or profiles for live streaming. Moving forward, live-streamed videos will only be available for 30 days after broadcast, after which they will become inaccessible and removed from Facebook servers. This policy applies to both new and older videos. For more details, please refer to the official announcement here.
We advise all offices and departments to review their Facebook pages and download any important videos for archiving purposes. This is especially important for videos related to academic events such as ceremonies, talks/seminars, thesis/dissertation defenses, and similar occasions.
YouTube is the University's preferred platform for live streaming and video content. Going forward, offices and departments can use the University's official YouTube channel (youtube.com/ateneodemanilauniversity) or any existing YouTube channels owned by centers, offices, or departments. If your office or department does not have its own YouTube channel, the University’s YouTube channel is available for use. Please note that the creation of new YouTube channels should adhere to the University’s Social Media Guide, available here.
Additionally, the University’s Marketing and Communications Office (UMCO) and the Digital Information & Technology Services (DITS) team are available to assist offices and departments with live streaming. For more information, visit this page.
For further inquiries, advice, or assistance, please contact UMCO at mktgcomm@ateneo.edu.
Thank you for your cooperation and support.
