30 May 2025
Four outstanding students from Ateneo de Manila Junior High School (AJHS) demonstrated their mathematical prowess at the World Mathematics Invitational (WMI) Preliminary Round, held online on 25 January 2025: Joshua Gonzalez (7-Baena) earned a gold medal in the Grade 7 Division, Paco Javier (8-Claver) also took home a gold medal in the Grade 8 Division, while Nathan Ballatan (10-Pongracz) and Joaquin Jobog (10-Rubio) both won a silver medal in the Grade 10 Division.

The WMI is an internationally recognized competition founded in Taiwan in 2013, designed to foster mathematical excellence and critical thinking among students globally. Participants face a rigorous selection of multiple-choice and short-answer questions that test advanced skills in algebra, geometry, number theory, and combinatorics.
As top scorers in the preliminary round, Joshua, Paco, Nathan and Joaquin are invited to represent the Philippines in the WMI Final Round, which will be held this July 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand.
