US - Highline Public Schools in Washington was hit by a ransomware attack in 2024, exposing personal, financial, and medical data of students and staff. The stolen information included names, Social Security numbers, health records, and student grades. AUSTRALIA - Western Sydney University suffered a major data breach, exposing personal and academic data of up around 10,000 students. Some of this data was later found shared on the dark web, including names, health information, and bank details. US – Fairplay, a watchdog group, says children under 13 are using Meta's Horizon Worlds VR platform, even though it's not meant for them. A former Meta employee claimed that the company knew this and didn’t act to protect young users.
