AGS' Co, Doria, Lopez, and Palitog grab gold in HK Science Olympiad's PH round

Fifteen students from the Ateneo de Manila Grade School (AGS) collectively achieved significant success at the Hong Kong International Science Olympiad (HKISO) Heat Round held last December, bringing home a total of four gold, nine silver, and two bronze medals.

The gold medalists were Kiel Co (4-Humabon), Anton Doria (6-Brebeuf), Luc Lopez (3-Pinatubo), and Mateo Palitog (6-Regis). Silver medals were awarded to Ethan Alferez (6-Bellarmine), Mika Bagain (4-Kalun), Jakob Barretto (3-Bulusan), Thor Cziomer (5-Subanon), Arthas del Rosario (4-Soliman), Albert Reyes (2-Talisay), Kyle Siyhian (6-Gonzaga), Rav Vergara (6-Faber), and Audwin Zapanta (4-Humabon). The bronze medalists were Sebastian Aligada (3-Apo) and Iñigo Cristobal (5-Ifugao).



Masters Barretto and Aligada were coached by Ms. Anna Angeles, while Masters Co and Zapanta were under the guidance of Mr. Angelo Garcia. Master Cziomer received coaching from Marlon Moralejo, and Masters Doria and Siyhian were coached by Ms. Louise Tulayba.
Hosted annually by the Math Olympiads Training League Inc. (MOTLI), the HKISO Heat Round 2024 took place on 8 December 2024, with participation from thousands of students nationwide. All bronze, silver, and gold medalists qualify for the HKISO Final Round, which will be held onsite in Singapore and online on 14 June 2025.
The HKISO is an annual global science competition encompassing four main categories: Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and Integrated Science. It is designed for students from grades 2 to 12 and closely follows the Hong Kong School Science Syllabus, assessing students based on their grade-level understanding of the content.
