Babaran wins silver for PH in Copernicus Math Olympiad's Final Round

(LATE POST) Last school year, Vico Babaran (then in 4-Humabon, now in 5-Talaandig) joined the preliminary round (PR) of the Copernicus Olympiad in the field of Mathematics. There were three preliminary rounds for Mathematics which attracted 9,407 participants from 52 countries: 16 December 2023, 17 February 2024, and 16 March 2024. Vico joined the one held in March and won a gold medal.
Four months later, Vico flew to the USA to represent the Philippines in the Copernicus Olympiad Mathematics Global Round (GR), which was held in New York from 14-18 July 2024. There, he won silver.

The Copernicus Olympiad was established in 2020 in Houston, Texas, by passionate educators with international experience in education. The name Copernicus is derived from the famous Polish mathematician, physicist, and astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, who proposed the revolutionary theory that the planets revolve around the Sun, contrary to the prevailing belief at the time that Earth was the center of the Universe.
The Copernicus Olympiad offers grades 3 to 12 students from all over the world the opportunity to compete in the following disciplines:
· Natural Science Olympiad
· Physics and Astronomy Olympiad
· Copernicus Film Festival
· Copernicus Entrepreneurship Olympiad (CEO)
· Mathematics Olympiad
The Copernicus Olympiad is growing day by day and currently has contestants from more than 50 countries around the globe.
