CI-Ateneo attends the 2024 World Chinese Language Conference in Beijing, China

With the theme "Interconnection, Integration, Inheritance, Innovation," the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China hosted this year’s World Chinese Language Conference from 15 to 17 November 2024, at the China National Convention Center in Beijing, China. Confucius Institute at Ateneo de Manila University (CI-Ateneo) was represented by its Chinese Director Dr Huang Linjun and Administrative Assistant Ms Stephanie Tan.
Over 2,000 participants attended the conference, including government officials, Confucius Institutes leaders, educational institutions leaders, teachers, and students from different parts of the world.
The aim of the conference is to strengthen intercultural relationships among nations by fostering people-to-people exchanges, with the Confucius Institute (CI) playing a key role in promoting Chinese language education.
During the breakout sessions, several delegates from different institutions shared their efforts and achievements in promoting international Chinese language education and fostering cultural exchanges, mostly through the Confucius Institutes and Chinese Testing International Inc..
Additionally, a Language Exhibition was hosted by local and international institutions, including universities, vocational colleges, publishing houses, and smart education companies specializing in AI and technology. These organizations provided scholarships and exchange program opportunities, organized book sales and access to online teaching resources, and demonstrated innovative technology applications in Chinese language education.
During the conference, CI launched its very own mobile application to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its founding. In the application, learners can easily access video lectures on Chinese language and culture that are available in different languages. Educators can also retrieve a wide range of suggested teaching materials through the application.
