Ateneo joins global Jesuit leaders at IAJU 2025 assembly

From 30 June to 3 July 2025, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia welcomed over 328 leaders from Jesuit colleges and universities around the world for the International Association of Jesuit Universities (IAJU) 2025 Assembly. This year’s assembly centered on the timely and urgent theme, “Our Mission in Challenging Times,” offering Jesuit university and college leaders an opportunity to learn from one another, discern collectively, and engage in meaningful dialogue.
Ateneo de Manila University was represented by Fr Roberto C Yap SJ, University President; Mr Glenn de Leon, Assistant to the President; Ms Cristina M Alikpala MA, Assistant Vice President for University Partnerships and Internationalization; Dr Philip Arnold P Tuaño (Economics Department); and Dr Ma Regina Hechanova (Psychology Department). Dr Tuaño and Dr Hechanova served as panelists in the sessions “Democracy in Crisis: Jesuit Higher Education Responds to Global Democratic Erosion” and “Promoting Student Well-Being: Strategic Priorities and Best Practices for Jesuit Universities,” respectively.
Throughout the assembly, Ateneo’s delegates actively participated in plenary sessions, working groups, and networking activities aimed at deepening collaboration across the global Jesuit higher education network.
Fr Yap was also invited to offer reflections on the assembly, including his response to the Superior General’s address, thoughts on engaging with today’s global challenges, and insights on the new IAJU strategic agenda.
