A small gift with far-reaching effects

For many years, the students of Tagumpay Nagaño High School in Nueva Ecija have had to contend with broken chairs. These created great discomfort for students and made focusing on lessons extremely challenging. Administrators even resorted to alternating the use of available chairs or other makeshift arrangements.
Shortly before the opening of basic education classes in the country last 29 July 2024, the school reached out to the Ateneo Center for Educational Development (ACED) to ask for classroom chairs for its students as the school had only 400 usable armchairs for the 750 learners expected this school year.
The situation in this under-resourced school in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija, has changed significantly through the heartfelt gesture of the Ateneo de Manila Junior High School (AJHS), which donated 150 armchairs and delivered these to Tagumpay Nagaño High School on 13 & 14 September 2024, quickly transforming the school's learning environment. That the benefits of having appropriate classroom furniture go beyond comfort requires no explanation. Curriculum revisions may be envisioned to enhance learning outcomes but these cannot be implemented effectively without adequate learning resources and facilities.
The Tagumpay Nagaño High School community is immensely grateful to Ateneo de Manila for this investment in the future of the boys and girls who will use these classroom chairs each day. Thanks to this gift, the students can now sit more comfortably as they continue to work towards achieving their dreams.
Viewable above are the videos from Tagumpay Nagaño High School showing their students and teachers expressing their gratitude to AJHS for the donated chairs.
