Catching up with Pathways alums in Socials and Updates Night
29 Jul 2024 | Pathways to Higher Education
On 28 June 2024, Pathways Alumni gathered with us in the Ateneo de Manila campus for a homey Alum Socials and Updates night. With more mature alumni from our 4th Batch of students to our fresh graduates from our 16th Batch, we were able to catch up with almost 80 of our alums and keep them up to date with the Pathways program.
Pathways Batch 9 alumnus and current staff Denzel Domingo shared how the organization has streamlined its college preparation program. He also shared how the organization has refined the participants’ journey towards nurturing life skills such as discernment and self-awareness. Despite the changes, Denzel underscored how Pathways continues to empower students to reach their fullest potential just as it has always aimed.
Pathways has been able to continue its work through their generous support, Director Solvie Nubla-Lee shared. She celebrated how Pathways alums have lived out the value of paying-it-forward. During the COVID-19 lockdowns, our network of alumni took it upon themselves to share what they can– from cash and kind to services such as medical advice and even packing typhoon aid. Since then, she mentioned, our alumni have only continued to give back through their volunteerism and continued presence in the community.
Adding to Denzel’s program updates, Director Solvie added updates on Pathways as an organization such as how we are now the social involvement arm of the newest Loyola School, the Gokongwei Brothers School of Education and Learning Design. As well, Pathways functions as the Philippine Chapter of Aiducation International, our long-time international partner and the sponsor of the event.
Aiducation International Managing Director Matthias Meier took to the stage to share about his experience with our Philippine talents. Having seen how they have Pathways siblings who also believe in them like our alumni, he shared how he was inspired to be in their presence. He highlighted how they have been able to overcome their circumstances and are now able to give back. On top of that, he emphasized the importance of this network and what they have achieved as a network so far.
Having heard these updates, our alumni shared among themselves in small group discussions about how they see themselves as part of the Pathways community in their new contexts. As they brought with them their own experiences in the workforce and in real life, they shared their eagerness to continue to be part of Pathways and how they see the community to be part of their lives going forward.
As we closed the night of catching up and coming home, we were reminded of the impact our program has had on the lives of our alums. Our Pathways Alum Socials and Updates night only kicked off our alumni engagements yet we hope it let our alumni know that we would love to still be part of their journeys, (many!) years after graduation.
