AGS mathletes win 4 golds, 4 silvers, and 5 bronzes in PhIMO Final Round

Thirteen Ateneo de Manila Grade School mathletes secured four gold, four silver, and five bronze medals in the Philippine International Mathematical Olympiad (PhIMO) Final Round, which was held onsite in Davao City and online on September 23, 2023. Of these 13, five Ateneans attended onsite while eight participated online.
The gold medal winners are:
Daniel Canaria (6-Canisius)- Primary 5 division, onsite
Iñigo Cristobal (4-Humabon)- Primary 3, onsite
Shun Sato (5-Maranaw)- Primary 4, onsite
Xavvi Lopez (6-Miki)- Primary 5 division, online

The silver medal winners are:
Ethan Alferez (5-Bagobo)- Primary 4, online
Thomas Camacho (6-De Brito)- Primary 5, online
Koko Dela Cruz (6-Campion)- Primary 5, online
Russ Tan (4-Maniago)- Primary 3, online

The bronze medal winners are:
Vico Babaran (4-Humabon)- Primary 3, onsite
Russ de Belen (5-Ivatan)- Primary 4, onsite
Lego Pauig (4-Marikudo)- Primary 3, online
Miguel Tagarda (4 Sultan Kudarat)- Primary 3, online
Matty Trinidad (6-Bellarmine)- Primary 5, online


The Ateneans were coached by Mr. Patrick Ablang (Grade 3 coach), Mrs. Rose De Jesus (Grade 3 coach), Mrs. Marie Guevara (Grades 4 and 5 coach), Mrs. Rose Perfecto (Grades 4 and 5 coach), and Mr. Javy Inumerable (Grade 6 coach).
Those who competed onsite in Davao were accompanied by Mrs. Grace Yn (AGS Math Coordinator) and Mrs. Rose Perfecto.
Per the PhIMO website, the Philippine International Mathematical Olympiad is a Philippine-hosted international contest aimed to engage students from around the world in a battle of wits, mettle, and mathematical abilities. The PhIMO Final Round 2023 attracted 600 onsite participants from Australia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. More than 500 participants from these ten countries participated online. Of the more than 1100 participants, 234 were gold medalists, 250 were silver medalists, and 383 were bronze medalists.
Now in its third year, the PhIMO is the newest and most sophisticated international mathematics competition among kindergarten to grade 12 students. It is designed to honor the world’s best learners in mathematical problem-solving through friendly competition, and to foster cultural exchange among its participating countries.
