AGS to hold online seminar on 11 November to guide parents on their son's First Holy Communion
26 Oct 2023
“These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.
Impress them on your children.
Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road,
when you lie down and when you get up.”
(Deuteronomy 6:6-7)

We recall the day our children were welcomed into the Catholic Church through the sacrament of Baptism. As they were embraced by Christ's family and initiated into a community of faith, we recognized then that their spiritual journey had just begun.
Now, we stand together on the threshold of the next phase of their faith journey – receiving Jesus for the first time. This significant milestone calls for our guidance as parents to nurture them as good Christians, and to encourage them to have a more active faith life. We are happy to announce that the Ateneo Grade School will be organizing The First Holy Communion for our students on November 18 and 25 for Grade 3, and in January 2024 for Grade 2.
With this, the school will be conducting a seminar for the parents of the first communicants. The parents, after all, are the first catechists of their children. The seminar, entitled "Embracing the Sacrament: A Parent's Guide on their Son’s First Holy Communion," will be held online on November 11, 2023 (Saturday) at 9:00 AM. Parents will also receive reminders about the online seminar, which will provide guidance on proper prayerful disposition and openness to God’s word to maximize the benefits of the talk.
Our speaker for this seminar is Reverend Father Victor de Jesus, S.J., the Vatican-appointed National Director of the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network and the Eucharistic Youth Movement, and also Chaplain of the Ateneo de Manila Grade School. This seminar will provide the parents with valuable insights and pointers on the importance of the Eucharist and how we can live this every day. We expect both parents to attend and to be partners in this important event.
Blessed, broken and shared. Together, let us guide our children towards a deeper understanding of the gift of Jesus in the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
