NEWS | Delhi Court permits minor to abort pregnancy while maintaining privacy

1 May  2023

INDIA – The Delhi High Court allowed a 14-year old girl to approach a hospital for the abortion of her pregnancy at 11 weeks and emphasized that her privacy be maintained by the doctors and police. The medical practitioner was required to lodge a report regarding the matter without disclosing the name or identity of the minor girl or her family. READ MORE

 

NEWS | EU lawyers: effort to look into private texts for child abuse may be unlawful

EUROPE – An EU plan to screen all WhatsApp, iMessage, and Snapchat accounts for child abuse content has hit a significant obstacle after an internal legal advice suggested it would probably be annulled by the courts for violating users’ rights. If it is allowed, any encrypted service provider may be compelled to scan billions of messages, videos, and photos for possible harmful content. READ MORE
