AthC Update #2

The Athletics Council (AthC) would like to apologize to our Handball team and to our PRADA-PAYA basketball team for inadvertently omitting their photos from the update that was posted last week. Their teams were likewise not mentioned in the writeup.

Here are this week’s game/tournament results from the Varsity Council Assembly under AthC:

•NCR-North is 2nd runner up of the girls' Batang Pilipino Basketball League (BPBL), which was held from January 27-29, 2023, at Fil-Oil Center in San Juan City. NCR-North was represented by Quezon City players, ten of whom are from Ateneo de Manila Senior High School. They are Nadz Acul-Acul (12-Gonzalez), Ice Alcantara (11-Gavan), Hazel Borlagdan (12-Bobola), Jill Dungca (12-Holland), Carissa Evangelista (11-Realino), Lauren Lopez (11-Garnet), Kate Quiambao (11-Angelis), Pia Ramirez (11-Torres), Ariana Reyes (11-Torres), and Mika Tiu (11-Gavan). In addition, Lauren Lopez was also announced as the fourth game’s Player of the Game, which pitted NCR-North against Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). The team’s head coach is Jopet Coronado while its assistant coach is Pio Mendoza. Nine teams from various regions in the Philippines participated in the competition.

• On February 5, our Blue Eagles lost to Adamson, 77-50, in the ongoing UAAP basketball tournament.

• On February 5, our Blue Eagles lost to UST, 6-1, in the ongoing UAAP boys’ football tournament

• The Blue Eagles PRADA-PAYA team currently has a win-loss record of 1-1 in the boys' PRADA basketball tournament. The win was by 51 points against Don Bosco Technical Institute on January 21, while the loss was to San Beda College Alabang by seven points on January 14, 2023. Coached by JM Pilares, the team will have its third game tomorrow, February 8, against Xavier. The game will be played in Xavier School in San Juan.

•The Blue Eagles’ win-loss record in the ongoing PRADA boys’ volleyball tournament is 2-3. The wins were against Don Bosco Technical Institute on January 14, and Lourdes School Mandaluyong on February 4, 2023. The losses were to San Beda College Alabang on December 3, to La Salle Greenhills on January 21, and to Xavier School (XS) on January 28.
