Unfortunately, they don't always follow through with this, choosing instead to assign the job as an additional responsibility to already busy staff members who often lack formal training. AUSTRALIA – According to one law school professor, outdated privacy laws expose Australian residents to improper collection and use of biometric data. He notes that the government's ongoing review of the country’s privacy law should also take up the collection of biometric data like fingerprints and facial recognition. READ HERE

 

NEWS | Concerns over data protection raised over school surveillance

INDIA – To improve student safety, the Delhi government began placing CCTV cameras in every classroom in public schools in 2017. This project will soon be expanded and will provide parents access to a CCTV live stream via a password-protected portal. NEWS| NPC and DICT team up to combat cybercrime

PHILIPPINES – The National Privacy Commission (NPC) has partnered with the anti-cybercrime arm of the Department of Information and Communications Technology to combat and prevent the use of information and communication technology for illegal and unauthorized purposes. According to the NPC, the partnership will ensure efficient teamwork in enforcing data protection and cybercrime law.
