Four AJHS boys rank among Top Ten of first ‘adaptive’ global math tilt; AJHS ranked #2 among top schools

Four Ateneo de Manila Junior High School students- Karl Bilog (Cardoner/7-Andlauer), CJ Boquiren (Pamplona/7-Page), Thade Go (Cardoner/7-Alvares) and Gabby Dy (Montserrat/9-Lalemant)- ranked among the top ten in the Philippines regional round of Math-Whiz, the world’s first adaptive mathematics global competition for students from grades 7 to 10. In the Grade 7 category, Karl, CJ, and Thade ranked 4, 5, and 7, respectively. Meanwhile, Gabby ranked 7 in the Grade 9 category. Thanks to the performances of our four mathletes, Ateneo de Manila Junior High School placed 2nd among the competition’s Top Schools.

The Math-Whiz Philippines Regional was held on Cerebry’s Adaptive Test Platform on September 16, 2022. It was “adaptive” in that the difficulty of problems encountered by the participant as he/she proceeded “adapted” to the student’s level of understanding. Following the competition, contestants received a proficiency report that gave them insights into their math skills and showed them how they performed vis-à-vis other students from their country.
