NEWS: Parents and teachers led to an inappropriate image via Seesaw

UNITED STATES –Parents and teachers using a popular school messaging app, Seesaw, recently received a link to an inappropriate image after the app was hacked. Reports claim that hackers used stolen login credentials from another site or app to send the message with the link to the inappropriate pic. Seesaw removed the message from all accounts and notified all affected users. READ MORE
NEWS: Pupils received email containing other students’ mental health info

UNITED KINGDOM – A message intended for staff members was inadvertently sent to the entire school by an employee resulting in the unwarranted disclosure of certain students’ health info. The missent email contained the names of every pupil with anxiety that had been referred for support. The school recalled the message and notified the families of the affected students. READ MORE
NEWS: Indian parents can now control kids’ Instagram usage

INDIA – Instagram has recently introduced controls for parents of underage users in India. The new controls will let parents modify how their kids will be able to use the platform. The move comes with Instagram’s new policy restricting the amount of data that advertisers can collect and use for targeted advertising and other purposes. READ MORE
NEWS: Teen accused of creating virus that affected hundreds of financial institutions

UNITED KINGDOM – An 18 year-old from Ireland is accused of creating a computer virus that went on to affect hundreds of financial institutions around the globe. He supposedly made a Distributed Denial of Service attack some years back and sent it to multiple websites and servers. He is also accused of having email login credentials relating to PayPal accounts and credit cards. READ MORE
NEWS: Philippines and Singapore agree to strengthen data cooperation and harmonization

PHILIPPINES – The Philippines, through its Department of Information Communication and Technology, recently signed an agreement with Singapore’s Ministry of Communications and Information to strengthen digital cooperation and ensure data harmonization.
