AJHS holds first onsite, student-led Formators’ Day program in three years
06 Oct 2022
On October 5, 2022, Ateneo de Manila Junior High School (AJHS) held two school traditions with a 100% onsite student population and a full-schedule school day: the memorial Mass of Our Lady of the Rosary and the Delaney-Duffy Day (or Formators’ Day). More than 2,200 students and formators witnessed the processional of Our Lady and fully participated in the mass, which was enhanced by the 25-member AJHS Faculty Choir and presided by Fr. Yohan SJ, Xavier School (Nuvali and San Juan) Institutional Campus Minister. In his message, AJHS chaplain Fr Ro Atilano SJ explained the value of the October Medal that everyone was wearing. At the end, Fr Mamert Mañus SJ invited everyone to raise their rosary as the community sang the Alma Mater Song (Song for Mary).
The Formators’ Day Program that followed was the first onsite event designed and executed by AJHS students since March 2020. Even with time limitations and safety considerations, the boys were able to collectively express their gratitude for all teachers and school personnel through a program that included group performances, video tributes, hard-copy Palanca letters, customized tokens, and synchronized movements of the entire student body, among others. The program was a “breaking-in” for post-online-class AJHS students as they aspire to spearhead more onsite fund-raising projects this year, such as the batch social nights and the much-missed annual school fair.

Happy Formators’ Day!
