Miggy Dugan wins silver for PH in Singapore Int’l Math Olympiad

Representing the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila Junior High School mathletes Miggy Dugan (Montserrat/9-Kisai) and Joaquin Jobog (Montserrat/8-Ishida) brought honor to the country through their award-winning performances in the Singapore International Mathematics Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC), which was held virtually on July 17, 2022. Miggy earned a silver award in the Math Olympiad Round, a School Rank of 1, a Country Rank of 5, and a Global Rank of Silver 8. Joaquin earned a silver in the Mind Sports team competition middle division, and a bronze in the Math Master Mind team competition middle division.

SIMOC is a mathematics competition for students from grades 1 to 12 which not only tests their ability to solve mathematical problems on pen & paper, but also gives them an opportunity to work in a team with top mathematical talents from around the world while playing interactive mathematical games and solving puzzles.
SIMOC 2022’s participating countries included Brazil, Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, China-Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
