The Ateneo de Manila Senior High School community celebrated its first onsite Mass of the Holy Spirit since June 2019 in the morning of Friday, 12 August 2022. Ateneo de Manila University Vice President for Basic Education Fr. Jonjee Sumpaico, SJ, was the main presider, while Ateneo de Manila Senior High School Chaplain Fr. Bong Dahunan, SJ, was the concelebrant. Also known as the “Red Mass,” the Mass of the Holy Spirit is a cherished tradition of Jesuit schools all over the world, and is usually celebrated at the start of every academic year. As sponsors of the mass, the students of 12-Anchieta, 12-Carvalho, and 12-Miki were onsite as well. They joined ASHS administrators, faculty, staff, custodians, parents, and all those watching the online livestream in invoking the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit- wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord – to guide and inspire their actions throughout the year.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in us the fire of your love.
