Jimbo Bernardo is champion of Bulgaria-based math tilt

Representing the Philippines, recent Ateneo de Manila Senior High School graduate Jimbo Bernardo (12-Pro in School Year 2021-2022) emerged as the age group 9 champion/1st place winner and a gold awardee of the Mathematics Without Borders (MWB) Final Round, which was held online on July 2, 2022. Meanwhile, incoming grade 12 mathlete Cassidy Tan (11-Moscoso in SY 2021-2022) also won a gold award for the Philippines in the age group 9 division.

In 2021, more than 1,200 mathletes from 17 countries (Australia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, China, Estonia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malta, Philippines, North Macedonia, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Taiwan, Turkey, Uzbekistan) participated in the MWB Final Round. Based in Bulgaria, the MWB International Tournament has three remote rounds called the Autumn Round, the Winter Round, and the Spring Round. Only medalists from at least one of these remote preliminary rounds may join the Final Round.
