In preparation for the opening of classes this August, members of the ASHS community participated in a training session on how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on July 11, 2022. An AED is a device used to provide first-aid for an individual who suffers sudden cardiac arrest. Even those with no medical background can use it to save a patient while waiting for emergency services to arrive.
Organized by the Office of Health Services under the Office of the Assistant Principal for Administration, the training was conducted by Mr. Joseph Crisostomo of BT Industries, Inc., distributor of the HeartSine AED. It was held to ensure that ASHS community members are knowledgeable and equipped to provide first aid to those who suffer sudden cardiac arrest, as this can happen to anyone regardless of age, medical history, and risk factors.
