5 AGS mathletes win medal awards in PhIMO heat round

Five Ateneo de Manila Grade School mathletes won medal awards in the recent Philippine International Mathematical Olympiad (PhIMO) Heat Round, which was held online on April 9 &10, 2022. Ethan Alferez (3-Kanlaon), Mika Bagain (1-Masipag), Daniel Canaria (4-Maniago), and Koko Dela Cruz (4 Lapu Lapu) secured silver awards, while Miguel Tagarda (2-Yakal) bagged a bronze award. Daniel and Koko competed in the primary 4 division while Ethan joined the primary 3 division. Miguel and Mika competed in the primary 2 and primary 1 divisions, respectively.


As PhIMO Heat Round medal awardees, our five mathletes are invited to compete in the PhIMO Final Round, which will be held on September 25, 2022.
Now in its second year, the PhIMO is the newest and most sophisticated international mathematics competition among kindergarten to grade 12 students. It is designed to honor the world’s best learners in mathematical problem-solving through friendly competition, and to foster cultural exchange among its participating countries.
