On behalf of the ADMU and XU Joint Working Group on SDG#2 Zero Hunger, we should like to take this opportunity to invite you to our ongoing Webinar Series on Sustainable Food Systems and the Future in the context of the SDG 2030 with focus on Zero Hunger SDG#2.

In 2021, various virtual public conferences were organized, including the first-ever independent dialogue for the UN Food Systems Summit, to increase public awareness  on the challenges brought about by food insecurity  and under-nutrition and to explore pathways  to contribute to sustainable ways forward in a variety of issues.

In this light, for 2022, we would like to invite you to this Webinar on Wednesday, 16 February from 3:00 – 4.30 p.m. via Zoom on the theme of “Indigenous Peoples,  the Environment and Food Systems Development“. The main part of the talk will be given by Cong. Teodoro “Teddy” Brawner Baguilat, Jr., the current International Congress and Convention Association Consortium President (ICCA) Consortium President. This will be  organized locally with Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan taking the lead role with their partner, the Bukidnon Mission District. You may register with this link: https://go.ateneo.edu/FSWBaguilat-Reg.

It is our hope that the policy dialogue will be able to look at inter-related issues of agriculture and food security, local diets and nutrition and health, including water for drinking as well as hygiene and sanitation, education, social protection and climate change issues for the long-term.

You may also join our Facebook group or contact us through our email foodsystems.vpsd@ateneo.edu for any questions. Please also stay tuned for our upcoming Webinars with the other Senators below:

Dark skies over the Ateneo de Manila University campus in Quezon City, Philippines, forebode possible rain. During the “Habagat” or southwest monsoon season from July to September, rains over the western Philippines can be exacerbated by tropical cyclones far to the east of the country that don’t even make landfall.
