AIS, ES Department, and JGSOM host LCA Workshop with Riga Technical University
15 Oct 2021
Thank you to everyone who joined the "Introduction to LCA modelling: theoretical background and practical exercises using openLCA software" workshop last October 4, 5, and 7, 2021.
Workshop attendees included faculty members of the Quantitative Methods & Information Technology department, Department of Environmental Science, Department of Economics, Department of Electronics, Computer, and Communications Engineering, Ateneo School of Government, and Ateneo Senior High School personnel from the Campus Facilities Management Office. In addition, students and recent alumni were also invited to participate. The invitation was likewise extended to other university partners. During the sessions, they were able to understand Life Cycle Thinking concepts and key aspects of the environmental impacts, get acquainted with Life Cycle Assessment according to ISO Standards 14044, and experience using openLCA software through exercises and practical assignments.
We would like to thank Prof. Francesco Romagnoli and Assistant Prof. Maksims Feofilov from the Institute of Energy Systems and Environment (RTU-IESE) for facilitating this workshop.
Prof. Romagnoli has a specialization in Eco-design & LCA and cleaner production. His main research interests are: LCA, MCA and System Dynamics modelling within techno-feasibility and sustainability evaluations, evaluation of Bio- and circular-economy solutions, overall Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment, urban system’s resilience evaluation, biogas. Assist. Prof. Feofilovs is a senior researcher at the RTU IESE). His main research areas include Life Cycle Analysis, System Dynamics modelling and urban resilience, and is leading the practical works in LCA study courses at Riga Technical University.
