Drawing Session Held in Celebration of International Day of Forests 2021
21 Mar 2021
In celebration of International Day of Forests on March 21, The Ateneo Wild and AIS held an online Zoom session entitled, Let's Draw With Inya, taught by Inya De Vera, a BFA ID alumna. In line with this year's theme of “A Path to Recovery and Well Being”, attendees learned how to draw the endemic Malakatmon (Dillenia luzoniensis) and colored their artworks using different kinds of coloring materials.
At the end of the event, attendees who posted their artworks won their very own Malakatmon seedling propagated from the Arboretum of 101 Threatened Philippine Trees in the Ateneo Loyola Heights campus. The arboretum was created in partnership with the EDC BINHI and the Manlapaz family. The winners also got a set of Philippine Forest Fruits postcards, beautifully illustrated by Cynthia Bauzon Arre and produced by the Forest Foundation Philippines, Inc.
This was a joint project of The Ateneo Wild, The Ateneo Institute of Sustainability, Forest Foundation Philippines, Inc., and EDC BINHI.
You may find the recording of the session here.
Check out Inya De Vera's other artworks here. We have worked with her previously with The City Wild: Urban Biodiversity from A-Z, an alphabet flash card set featuring examples of Philippine urban wildlife and concepts.
